Abstract

This article will discuss the controversy of coal mining industry in Indonesia. At this
time, coal has been metamorphosed into a valuable mineral mining goods. The world's
need for an affordable and efficient energy source has driven coal to become an
important commodity today. Indonesia as one of the world's coal-producing countries
participates in maintaining the stability of the world's coal supply. However,
Indonesia's participation in the Net Zero Emissions (NZE) program has encouraged
Indonesia to participate in the global climate change campaign and against the use of
non-renewable fossil energy. Behind these controversy, the coal mining industry has
made many significant contributions to Indonesia’s economics.
